About Johnstown OH
This bustling village of nearly 3500 is part of a 4000 acre tract of land deeded to revolutionary soldier John Brown in 1800 by President Adams for military services. Brown sold the property in 1810 to Dr. Oliver Bigelow who laid out the village and donated the streets and alleys of Johnstown, as well as the historic town square. The town square is home the village offices, the library, and the historic opera house constructed by Elizah Barton in 1884. The village is at the northern end of the 14-mile bike path leading to Granville and Newark where it interconnects with a network of additional paths. Another claim to fame for the village is the Johnstown Mastodon, discovered in 1926 and considered to be the most perfect mastodon skeleton ever assembled.
Johnstown OH is just a short, 20-mile drive to downtown Columbus and 15 miles from the Port Columbus International Airport.
