The City of Newark is the largest city in Licking County and serves as the county seat as well as the hub of transportation, industry, shopping and recreation for the rapidly-growing Licking County area. Home to nearly 50,000 residents, the city offers a diverse blend of old and new from the historic town square and court house to the Longaberger Basket corporate office. Area attractions include Blackhand Gorge, Flint Ridge and the Hopewell Indian Mounds (sacred Native American grounds), a host of excellent golf courses including the acclaimed Longaberger Golf Club, 50 plus miles of bike paths, the Newark branch of The Ohio State University, the Central Ohio Technical College, Dawes Arboretum, National Trails Raceway (home to several regional and national drag racing events), Don Edwards Park, a variety of museums and cultural facilities and the well known Cherry Valley Lodge. Newark is a 30-minute commute to the Columbus Metropolitan area and the Port Columbus International Airport.
